We recently celebrated an anniversary & I’m so grateful to God for the years together with hubby. It’s been a journey filled with ups, downs, twists, turns and always lots of love. And through it all, here’s what I’ve learned:

1) Love is a choice. Period. You can rationalize your decisions or explain away…..but we are all personally accountable to choosing, deciding, determining to love. People can say that you can fall in and out of love….and that may be true, but ultimately it comes down to your heart. Do you choose to love this person, your spouse? It’s a decision you have to say YES to daily.

2) No matter how in love you are, you still need God’s grace to continue to say yes to the VOWS you made. Some days you will feel super in love, others you won’t. But always remember the commitment you made. You decided to become that person’s spouse. It wasn’t a contract. It was a promise to your spouse and to God to stay in the relationship.

3) I am imperfect and so is he but the great thing is that we’re imperfect TOGETHER! There’s a freedom in getting to completely reveal your self and see all of someone else. And there is even more liberty in choosing daily to find the good in it all.

4) Seasons change. If you’re going through a challenging time, it will get better!

5) It’s great to find reasons to laugh together, play together and have fun together. They are your best-friend, confidant, partner in life….so it’s important not to get bogged down in the monotony of life.

6) Everything is a matter of perspective. You can find joy in every situation.

7) God really is the third cord of a solid marriage (Ecc 4:12). We can’t make it without Him. He is the glue that holds us together, allows us to forgive, renews our mind, and fills our heart with LOVE because He is Love (1 John 4:8). If you haven’t invited God into your relationship or love life, trust me, you’re missing out! He started this thing called love and He can help us finish strong!!!
